About Cardinal Woodworking

The Roots of My Passion

I grew up watching my grandfather build boats and tinker in the basement. As a child, my dad’s career took him from Buffalo, to Dallas, to Ohio. However, there was always a shop in the garage where my dad honed his skills while digging deeper into his furniture building hobby. I loved the smell of the sawdust, watching them both shape the wood into new creations. They taught me about the tools, joinery, different kinds of wood, and the science behind building furniture.

The Beginning of Cardinal Woodworking

Back in 2015, I took my own woodworking hobby to the next level and established Cardinal Woodworking. I found that I really enjoy working with old growth timber found in old buildings and barns… taking that old wood and creating something new and different. Those creations are unique and often, just the right combination of old and new that my clients want.

My Niche as a Woodworker

Some folks bring me an old dresser, chair or table. It might be broken or damaged, but they can’t bear to part with it. The piece doesn’t work in their home today, they don’t know what to do with it, but can’t let it go. I can take pieces and parts from that furniture and use it to build something beautiful that works for them today. They love the memories that the new furniture recalls. They kept their family heritage, but made it more functional for today.

Most folks want that one special thing in their home.  The one thing that they feel truly reflects who their family is.  I can help you create that unique piece that, over the years, never leaves your home.
